We spent some time with Valerie Chiasson at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park during the Victoria Day SpeedFest Weekend. Valerie travels the globe fulfilling her racing commitments but calls Mont-Tremblant, Quebec home.
Like most professional race car drivers, Valerie started her racing career in go-karts and has worked her way up the racing ladder.
Rarely seen without a smile on her face, Valerie is one of motorsport’s most naturally engaging and entertaining characters, making her a fan favourite. This year, Valerie is racing in Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama and the Nissan Micra Cup.
Kuno Wittmer is a BMW of North America factory driver and recently joined Mills Racing in the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX series driving a BMW Z4 GT3. Kuno, a 33-year-old Canadian from Montreal, is the current third driver of the #100 BMW Team RLL M6 GTLM in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
In the first year that the American Le Mans Series and GRAND-AM Series merged to form the United SportsCar Championship, Wittmer won two races and claimed six podium finishes on his way to the inaugural GTLM title in 2014. Kuno achieved a prestigious class victory at the opening round of the 2015 season, winning the legendary Rolex 24 at Daytona twice.
Kuno, whose father and grandfather were also race car drivers, claimed his first victory in the North American Street Stock Championship at the age of 16. In 1999 he was crowned “Rookie of the Year” in the Canadian Formula Ford Championship. He later switched to sports cars where, after a brief guest appearance in the 2011 ADAC GT Masters, his race outings have included the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
