Mini Making Limited Edition John Cooper Works 1to6

Mini are celebrating our diehard love affair with the manual transmission by creating 999 1to6 John Cooper Works 3-door Minis. Starting in September 2023 the 1to6 Edition will be available in Canada, The United States, Mexico and Europe. The 1to6, referring to gears one to six in the manual transmission, can sprint from 0-60 mph in about 6 seconds thanks to its 231 horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder direct-injection engine.

The MINI John Cooper Works models have their roots in motorsport. With the MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition, we are celebrating MINI’s legendary motorsport history and maximizing the brand-typical driving experience.Stefanie Wurst, Head of Mini

This limited edition Mini, in its Midnight Black exterior colour, is adorned with numerous 1to6 edition logos and badges, including a “One of 999” on the sunroof.

A Mini 1to6 competed in the 24-hours of Nürburgring endurance race May 20 and 21. The Bulldog Racing team took their number 126 Mini to the podium, finishing in 2nd place in their class. One of the team’s drivers was Charlie Cooper, the grandson of John Cooper who invented the Mini Cooper.

“To start as an underdog and to be able to achieve such a great result right off the bat at the debut, that’s typical MIN,” said Charlie Cooper. “It feels like history repeating itself back in the spirit of the early 1960s when my grandfather John Cooper was underestimated against a perceived superiority of much more powerful competitors, only to win the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965 and 1967. I’m delighted that together with MINI and Bulldog Racing, we’ve opened the next chapter in our brand’s motorsport activities and given MINI its first podium finish in a 24-hour race.”

The racing Mini 1to6 had the same 231 hp 4 cylinder engine and six-speed manual gearbox as the road going 1to6. It was modified and fitted with all necessary safety features and standards to be able to compete in the VT2 production car class. Joining Charlie in the four driver lineup was Christoph Kragenings (GER), Sebastian Sauerbrei (GER) and Michael Mönch (GER).

Even more than the podium finish, I am delighted that we have succeeded in making the new MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition a crowd favorite. It’s impressive how positively people react to our MINI race cars and how quickly our “Made in Nürburg” racers have developed a fan base.Alexander Schabbach, Managing Director of Bulldog Racing
