“It is as fundamentally exciting to drive as the Aventador SVJ but with an added exclusivity…”Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO, Automobili Lamborghini

Automobili Lamborghini unveiled two new drop tops at this week’s Geneva International Motor Show, the Aventador SVJ Roadster and the Huracán EVO Spyder.

Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster

The wind can flow quickly through your hair in this roadster as it powered by a naturally aspirated 6,498 cc V12 engine that generates 770 hp at 8,500 rpm and maximum torque of 531 lb-ft at 6,750 rpm. All of that power is sent to all four wheels and can launch the SVJ Roadster from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, from 0-200 km/h in 8.8 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h. Only 800 of these cars will be built.

“The Aventador SVJ Roadster inherits all the power, performance and ground breaking aerodynamic technologies of the coupé, but with its own iconic presence and prowess,” said Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “It is as fundamentally exciting to drive as the Aventador SVJ but with an added exclusivity: the option of the open air. With the same extraordinary performance roof on or off, the Aventador SVJ Roadster incorporates the dynamism of the coupé with the unique spirit of a Lamborghini roadster.”

The SVJ Roadster sports the ‘Super Veloce’ for superfast and ‘Jota’ suffixes, signifying the car’s performance and track prowess. The SVJ coupe set a production car lap record around the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Both cars are powered by the most powerful series production V12 engine ever produced by Lamborghini.

The roadster roof, which weighs just 6 kg, is constructed from high pressure RTM carbon fiber and is removable via quickrelease levers in the cabin. Once removed it can be securely stored under the front hood.

Lamborghini Huracán EVO Spyder

If you don’t think you really need a twelve-cylinder 770 horsepower convertible, then the new Lamborghini Huracán EVO Spyder might be just right for you. It is powered by a 5.2 liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine derived from the Huracán Performante. The Huracán EVO Spyder’s engine generates 640 hp at 8,000 rpm and 443 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm. That will launch this 3,399 pound supercar from 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, from 0-200 km/h in 9.3 seconds on the way to a top speed of 325 km/h.

“The Huracán EVO Spyder incorporates all the performance, next-generation vehicle control and aerodynamic features of the EVO coupé, with its own unique personality and a driving excitement that only an open-top car can offer,” said Stefano Domenicali. “The Spyder continues the Huracán EVO’s evolutionary charge: extremely easy to drive while excelling as a highly responsive, fun super sports car. Particularly with the roof open, the emotive sound of the naturally aspirated engine and the refined, lightweight exhaust system take the sensory experience to a new level. The Huracán EVO Spyder’s design, performance and exhilarating open-air drive experience is literally breathtaking.”

The Huracán EVO Spyder features an electrohydraulic lightweight soft top that opens in just 17 seconds. It can be operated at speeds of up to 50 km/h (31 mph). As the roof silently lowers, two fins in the same color as the body, rise upwards out of the folding roof casing towards the seatbacks and once in place continue the line to the rear, enhancing the car’s appearance. An integrated duct between the fins reduces turbulence in the headroom during open top driving.
