Koenigsegg has reset the record books for accelerating from 0-400 km/h and back to zero. This street legal multi-million dollar plug-in hybrid Regera generates up to 1,500 hp from its 5.0 litre twin-turbo V8 engine and three electric motors.
The Regera, which is Swedish for “To Reign”, accomplished its 0-400-0 km/h run in just 28.81 seconds. That beats the record set earlier this year by an all-electric Rimac Nevera, with almost 1,900 hp, which set a 0-400-0 km/h time of 29.93 seconds. Koenigsegg held the world record before that.
“This specific record is one that means a lot to Koenigsegg as it’s a record that covers every aspect of extreme performance.”Christian von Koenigsegg, Founder and CEO of Koenigsegg
“The fact that the Regera can still surprise and amaze the automotive world after all this time is a testament not only to its timeless design, but to engineering and technology that was way ahead of the curve. It’s something that makes me extremely proud, and as the Jesko customer cars are being delivered, we can’t wait to show you what’s next.”
Koenigsegg made only 80 Regeras between 2018 and 2022. It had a list price of approximately $1.9 million USD. Each car was presold and custom built specifically for each buyer. One such buyer added more than $1 million in factory options bringing their total purchase price to more than $3.2 million USD.
The Regera set its speed run record at the Orebro Airport Runway near Stockholm, Sweden. It has a runway that is more than 3.2 kms long. It took just over 2 kms for the Regara to accomplish its 0-400-0 km/h run. It took 20.68 seconds to accelerate from 0-400 km/h and 8.13 seconds to decelerate from 400-0 km/h.
