Christina Nielsen is just 24 years of age and is from Denmark. She is a second generation racing car driver. Her father Lars Erik Nielsen raced in all of the pinnacle of sportscar endurance races including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 12 hours of Sebring. Christina earned her first career victory in the WeatherTech Championship in March at the 12 Hours of Sebring, becoming the first female class winner at that legendary race in a decade.

Christina started go karting at the age of 13 and fell in love with the sport. As Christina likes to say, “I am not a female who is a race driver, I am a race driver who is a female.”
Christina is driving for Scuderia Corsa in the No. 63 Ferrari 488 GT3 in the GT Daytona (GTD) class in the IMSA WeatherTech United SportsCar Championship. In this interview we get to hear Christina discusses the similarities and the differences between a road going Ferrari 488 and her 488 GT3.

Following their victory at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen, Christina Nielsen and her teammate, Alessandro Balzan, finished 4th at the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, extending their lead in the GT Daytona championship.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy about a position four,” Nielsen said. “We extended the points lead; that’s one of the main factors – always bring points home and stay consistent. That’s what we did today, and that’s why we extended the lead. It was a great comeback from how we started the weekend. It definitely was a challenging weekend. We knew we weren’t in the greatest position, but it was an amazing job by the team. The strategy, the execution in pit lane – everything just fell together.”
