Ferrari has now created the most extreme one-off Ferrari ever, the P80/C. The Ferrari Styling Centre and the engineering and aerodynamics team worked with the client to create a new “Hero Car”. The client’s goal was to create a modern sports prototype that was inspired by iconic models including the 330 P3/P4 and the 1966 Dino 206 S.
“They need to be a long term client and one who enjoys being part of the Ferrari life and brand” said Amedeo Felisa, a member of the board of directors of Ferrari. “More than just a client, they effectively embody the marque. Most importantly, this type of client goes beyond being just a collector, taking pleasure in participating in Ferrari’s strategies and values. It is only for this type of person that Ferrari agrees to build the car of their dreams, a unique car, created to their exact specifications.”
Ferrari race car driver, Alessandro Pier Guidi, tested the car and provided feedback to the engineers in the final phase of development. “The mechanicals are similar, so at lower speed it behaves very similar to the GT3’” said Pier Guidi. “It has excellent braking and performs very well. So the first few laps were lots of fun for me because when I went out on the track I was finally able to push it to 100 percent of its potential, and it was fantastic.”
The Ferrari 488 GT3 is powered by a 4.49 litre V8 engine that generates 592 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Output for the P80/C has not been disclosed. The P80/C was designed to have a racing set-up, which includes a carbon-fibre wing and 18” single-nut wheels, and an exhibition package with 21” wheels but devoid of aerodynamic appendages, to highlight the purity of its form.
Ferrari has not disclosed details pertaining to the name of the client or the cost of the P80/C.
