2023 Porsche 911 Dakar

Porsche is celebrating its first overall win at the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally with the production of 2,500 911 Dakar’s. If you want your 2023 Porsche 911 Dakar to look like the iconic Rothmans 911 from the 1980’s, the optional Rallye Design Package will add $32,490 CAD to the $247,200 CAD base price. To really make this 911 your own, you can choose the numbers on the doors, any number from “1” to “999”. The Start Number can be one, two or three digits, i.e., 1, 01 or 001.

To increase this 911 Dakar’s off-road capabilities, ground clearance is 50 mm or 2 inches higher than the 911 with sports suspension. The standard lift system can also raise the front and rear ends of the car by an additional 30 mm or 1.2 inches. The High Level raises the 911 at speeds up to 170 km/h, then it lowers to the normal ride height.

Powering the 911 Dakar is the 3.0 litre flat six boxer engine with 473 hp at 6,500 rpm and 420 lb-ft of torque from 2,300-5,000 rpm. All-wheel drive and the 8-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission will launch the 911 Dakar from 0-100 km/h or 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds.

Pirelli developed special Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires, which come standard on the 911 Dakar. 245/45 ZR19 are upfront with 295/40 ZR20 in the rear. The 911 Dakar’s top speed is limited to 240 km/h or 149 mph when equipped with the all-terrain tires.

The 911 Dakar has two new driving modes, Rallye and Offroad. Rallye mode is set up to increase performance on loose, uneven surfaces and gives the car a more rear-wheel drive bias. Offroad engages the higher clearance level and is tuned to maximize traction on sand and difficult terrain. Also new is Rallye Launch Control which helps improve acceleration on loose surfaces.

It isn’t often that Porsche 911 buyers are able to check the Roof Basket or Roof Tent boxes on the Porsches options list. The 911 Dakar roof has a 12-volt plug which can power the lights on the roof rack. Up to 92 lbs. or 42 kg of rallying gear can be carried in the roof rack. Lightweight glass, a lightweight battery and the deletion of the rear seats helps to reduce the cars weight.

Delivery of the Porsche 911 Dakar will being in the Spring of 2023.
