Formula 1 fans will see three different Aston Martins at the track this season. Canadian Lance Stroll and 2-time World Champion Fernando Alonso will be driving the Aston Martin AMR23 Formula 1 car. Joining them will be the Aston Martin DBX707 Official FIA Formula 1 Medical Car and the Vantage Official FIA Formula 1 Safety Car.
The Aston Martin DBX707 is the world’s most powerful luxury SUV. The DBX707 has received significant engine, transmission, suspension and brake upgrades. The 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 engine generates 690 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. That will launch the medics in this Medical Car from 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds.
“DBX707 is the perfect vehicle for the critical role as an Official FIA Medical Car of Formula 1, providing the performance and punch required for the world’s greatest racing circuits, in addition to the flexibility and space required by the sport’s officials and medics,” said Roberto Fedeli, Aston Martin Chief Technology Officer.
“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Formula 1 and the FIA this season, with the pinnacle of motorsport a perfect environment for Aston Martin to showcase the capabilities of our ultra-luxury high-performance cars,” Fedeli continued. “With the eyes of the world on our products, there is pressure to perform, but that intensity pushes us to constantly improve. Seeing our cars used in an official capacity at such prestigious events is something that everyone at Aston Martin is very proud of.”
The DBX707 Medical Car is fitted with fire extinguishers, medical bags, a defibrillator and FIA-approved racing seats, each with a six-point racing harness. The medics have Race Control communication access, are able to see the FIA Marshalling system and can see each driver’s biometric data.
"The updated FIA Medical Car is an impressive step forward and ensures that we will keep pace in the high-speed world of Formula 1,” said Alan van der Merwe, FIA Medical Car driver. “It's definitely going to allow the Medical Car team to fully focus on the job and respond quickly and safely during any on-track deployments. It's great to be heading into a new season well prepared and well equipped."
The one-of-a-kind Aston Martin Vantage FIA Safety Car is driven by former DTM star Bernd Mayländer. The Vantage and DBX707 have the same Aston Martin Racing Green exterior paint as the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula 1 cars.
Aston Martin created the Vantage Formula 1 Edition in 2021, which, according to Aston Martin, was a huge commercial success. Their consumer research determined that the creation of this car was successful in attracting new Aston Martin owners. 72% of the Vantage Formula 1 Edition buyers had never previously owned an Aston Martin. That is a pretty compelling indication that race on Sunday, in Formula 1, sell on Monday, is working for Aston Martin.
