The Nissan Z gets the NISMO, as in Nissan Motorsports International, treatment in 2024 with an increase in performance, and price. Horsepower for the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engine is up 5 percent from 400 to 420. Torque is up 10 percent from 350 to 384 lb-ft. The price is up too. The 2024 Z NISMO starts at CAD $75,998, a 22 percent premium over the Z Performance’s $61,998 MSRP and a 49 percent jump over the $50,998 Z Sport. The Z NISMO is much more TrackWorthy than the Z Sport and Z Performance.

In addition to the increase in horsepower and torque, what else do you get for $75,998? One is exclusivity, as this is a limited-availability car. What you don’t get is a 6 speed manual transmission. It is only available with a 9 speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. It has revised clutch packs for faster shifting to make it more suited for track days. Downshift times have been cut in half compared to the automatic in the Z Performance. In addition to Normal and Sport, the Z NISMO adds a new Sport+ drive mode.

2024 Nissan Z NISMO upgrades include:

• BODYWORK: New bodywork and a taller three-piece rear spoiler improves downforce and aerodynamic performance on the race track. The shape of the rear bumper corners reduce drag. The redesigned side sills reduce aerodynamic drag and lift.
• SUSPENSION: Every element of the Z NISMO’s suspension has been revised to improve handling and cornering grip. It has unique stabilizer bars, a stiffer spring rate and larger, retuned dampers.
• CHASSIS: Revised bracing and stiffening help the Z NISMO track and respond better to its increased grip. It has additional front, rear and rear underfloor bracing. Lateral rigidity is improved thanks to stiffer front and rear suspension bushings and a stiffer mounting bushing for the steering rack.
• WHEELS & TIRES: The wheels on the Z NISMO are larger and lighter than the 19” Rays on the Z Performance. They are half an inch wider, 10 inches wide up front and 10.5 inches in the rear. They are fitted with Dunlop SP SPORT MAXX GT600 tires, similar to those on the GT-R NISMO. The rear tires are 10 mm wider than the Z Performance at 285/35R19 versus 275/35R19.
• INTERIOR: It has a new leather and Alcantara steering wheel with a red mark at the 12 o’clock position. It has manually adjustable Recaro seats. It has red-anodized engine-start and drive mode buttons. NISMO badging inside and out and start-up animation graphics let the driver know that this isn’t a standard Z.
• BRAKES: It has an upgraded braking system including larger front 15.0-inch brake rotors and 13.8-inch rear brake rotors. It also has a more performance-focused brake pad compound to improve track performance.

The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO is available in five colours: Black Diamond Pearl, Brilliant Silver, Passion Red TriCoat, Everest White Pearl TriCoat and the NISMO-exclusive Stealth Grey.
