The 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 are going to come with flat-6 cylinder non-turbocharged engines unlike the lesser 718’s which come with turbocharged flat-4 cylinder engines. The Spyder and GT4 represent the pinnacle of the Boxster and Cayman lineups.

For the first time ever, the 718 Spyder and the 718 Cayman GT4 share the same technical base including the newly developed 4.0 litre 6-cylinder naturally aspirated boxer engine and the same 6-speed manual transmission. The engine generates 414 hp at 7,600 rpm in both models. Maximum torque is 309 lb-ft from 5,000-6,800 rpm. Redline is 8,000 rpm. The naturally aspirated engine is based on the same engine family as the turbo engines in the current 911 Carrera models.

Both manual transmission equipped cars can both break the 300 km/h barrier: the 718 Spyder has a top speed of 301 km/h and the 718 Cayman GT4 can reach 304 km/h. Both models accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The 718 GT4 is the entry-level GT Porsche road car.

To scrub all of that speed off, the high-performance brake system in the 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 provides large aluminium monobloc fixed-calliper brakes that are suitable for track use. Optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) are also available.

The 718 Spyder now runs on ultra-high-performance (UHP) tires specially adapted by Porsche. They are part of the overall package that makes the 718 Cayman GT4 10 seconds per lap quicker than its predecessor

around the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife. Canadian list prices for two cars are $110,500 for the new 718 Spyder and $113,800 for the new Cayman GT4.
