For the first time ever, the 718 Spyder and the 718 Cayman GT4 share the same technical base including the newly developed 4.0 litre 6-cylinder naturally aspirated boxer engine and the same 6-speed manual transmission. The engine generates 414 hp at 7,600 rpm in both models. Maximum torque is 309 lb-ft from 5,000-6,800 rpm. Redline is 8,000 rpm. The naturally aspirated engine is based on the same engine family as the turbo engines in the current 911 Carrera models.
To scrub all of that speed off, the high-performance brake system in the 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 provides large aluminium monobloc fixed-calliper brakes that are suitable for track use. Optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) are also available.
