Texas-based Hennessey Performance is building fifty-seven 1,000 hp Exorcist ZL1 Final Edition Camaro’s to celebrate the end of the internal combustion engine Camaro era. They are building one of these supercharged pony cars for each of the 57 years that the Camaro has been in production. Each car comes with a three year 36,000 mile limited Hennessey warranty.

“Our comprehensive upgrade to the Camaro ZL1 is one of my all-time favorites.” John Hennessey, company founder and CEO

“The chassis, suspension, and powerplant work seamlessly together, so all the driver experiences is raw, unbridled horsepower. There’s nothing else like our EXORCIST, so we’re eager to share this special limited edition with fans of this iconic car before it’s gone forever.”

How do they accomplish this transformation? They use a larger high-flow supercharger, high-flow air induction system and upgrade the auxiliary fuel system, fuel injectors, and fuel pump. The cylinder heads are ported, custom Hennessey Performance camshafts are fitted, and they upgrade the intake valves, exhaust valves, valve springs, retainers, lifters, and pushrods. They use an oversized heat exchanger to improve cooling, and long-tube stainless steel headers and high-flow catalytic converters improve breathing. The engine management software is also upgraded.

The result is a 54% increase in power, from 650 to 1,000 hp, and a 49% increase in torque, from 650 to 966 lb-ft. All of this performance comes at a price. First, you have to buy a Camaro ZL1 which will set you back about $90,000 CAD in Canada, including freight, A/C charge, dealer fee, plus taxes, and other fees, or about $75,000 USD in the United States, excluding taxes, title, license and dealer fees. Then you have to pay Hennessey another $50,000 USD for them to transform this from a stock Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8, into one that has a top speed of 350 km/h or 217 mph.

Hennessey, based in Sealy, Texas, has re-engineered more than 12,000 cars and trucks over the past three decades. Each Hennessey product is dyno-proven, track-tested, street-legal and warrantied. They focus on tuning vehicles from manufacturers including Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, and Jeep.
